Glossary of Terms:

  • AOV: any other variety, not otherwise listed
  • Arrangement: A floral arrangement consists of fresh cut plant material in a container, with a base, if necessary
  • Bloom: A solitary flower on one stem, (no side buds, no side vegetative shoots)
  • Composition: May consist of dried, weathered or treated materials and/or accessories, with or without cut plant material
  • Cut: Branch from main stem to include leaves and buds
  • CVA: Means 'colour variation allowed'
  • Design: May be either an arrangement or a composition
  • Distinct: One colour, one variety
  • Kind: The genus, such as 'cabbage'
  • Plant Material: Plant material need not be grown by the exhibitor*.
  • Spray: One or more clusters of flowers usually on a single main stem
  • Stem: May be one or more flowers, but must not have side branches
  • Variety: The different named kinds, such as 'Jubilee' corn

*Applies only to the decorative division, not to all of the divisions.

Exhibits must be grown by the member.
